The Electric Car Song (Video)
Most of us at CityTV are greens so we are happy when an anthem comes along that expresses our interest in Electric Vehicles.
They Might Be Giants and the song is “Electric Car. Features vocals by Robin Goldwasser. From TMBGs new DVD/CD set Here Comes Science release by Disney Records (after the jump).

Cool song and very nice video. This will let kids easily understand the message of the song. By the way, just to clarify, Here Comes Science is an educational DVD/CD set, right?
That would be correct. Teaching science with music. Available on itunes.
Love this video, what a fun way of teaching kids and keeping it interesting. Will have to try it on my kids when they’re a bit older
The only disadvantage which I can define in electric cars is their low speed of movement. Others are only plusses!
Actually this is a myth and for a very good technical reason. Electric motors have all of their torque (turning power) available almost immediately which means they very fast. Petrol engines (ICE) have a bell curve like power curve which means they are much slower off the mark.
They DO however have a higher overall speed but I must ask you, how often do you travel at 120-150 miles per hour??
Wow didn’t know this tune had a video to it. Good to see I’m not the only one that enjoys these guys.
Cool song and very nice video.
It is a very cute song and I’m glad for anything but helps teach children about importance of caring for our environment.
Unfortunately, electric cars are not all that good for the environment because they are still ultimately powered by the burning of fossil fuels to make Bluff electricity that charges up these cars. It’s far better for the environment to use public transportation as much as possible rather than tooling around in your electricity-guzzling vehicle.
I would be careful in making a sweeping statement about where electricity is generated from. It is true that the USA has an unhealthy reliance on coal generation, but most countries do not. For example, New Zealand’s generation is 70% renewable energy (hydro, wind, thermal) and it is public policy for that to climb to 90% in the next 10 years. There is currently massive investments being made to move to renewables over carbon sources of electricity.
To be an American means usually assuming that the rest of the world does things like we do. I stand corrected.
This is good way for advertisement and I really love this song and all the graphics used in this video is the creative work of the developer.
” The green color means behavior “. It is excellent presentation.
This put me in mind of Janis Joplin’s Mercedes Benz song. Ms. Joplin’s song was cool, I think the firm later used it in commercials.
I seem to recognise one of the voices in the intro as being one of the presenters on NPR’s Planet Money.
Well Done
this enviormental friendly song and it has very nice vocals.
gives message to all.
Well done , Electric car way cool……
Hey my 8 month old son Leo loves this song ..every-time it comes on tv he’s engrossed by it an i find it good too ….ordered the dvd off amazon
What a great song. The children will be our future and I’m encouraged when I see them at my son’s school being green.
Being green also means not being wasteful. Which is a great economic lessons for kids. You do not have to consume stuff like their is no tomorrow. Watching your pennies is great sense.
There is a down side. When you charge it with electricity, remember were the electricity comes from *points to a power plant with huge smoke coming out of it.
Cool song and very nice video….. I like it
Ha ha! I LOVE this song! We listen to this song in science! We start to sing it so loud the other classes can hear us. I also lOve the day crocket one.
