Kiwi Helicopter Dashes Across Tasman to Help Fight Aussie Fires (Video)

A Russian Mil Mi-8MTV-1 Helicopter, one of two heavy lifting aircraft based in Taupo owned by Heli Harvest Ltd, is making it’s way accross the Tasman to help fight fires in Victoria. The Mi-8s are the largest helicopters in the Southern hemisphere and support aÂ HL5000Â Bambi-Bucket which carries upto 5 tonnes of water/foam. The video shows firefighting in Victoria in 2006.
