Aussies blog the Kiwis

Over the last two weeks on my travels in the South West, I have met about 10 people who have either been to New Zealand, intend to travel to New Zealand or have a niece who won’t come home from New Zealand. Our good friends at the Melbourne Age have a blog/promotion called TrampaboutNZ (Note: Tramping is a down under term for Hiking). An Aussie journalist was paid to travel around New Zealand and blog about it.
It is not often you get Aussie’s to express affection, let alone to Kiwis but….

…they are talented out of all proportion to their numbers. I mean any country that can produce opera singers of the talent of Kiri and Teddy; any country that can give the world the huge talent of Peter Jackson; any country that can produce a band as good as Crowded House; and any country that can offer a writer of the talent of Katherine Mansfield is, to use that corny sporting metaphor, punching way above its weight.

If you are interested in travelling to this part of the world, this is a good read.
