The VW Polo Blue Motion that Richard Hammond raced from Basel to Blackpool in last years season of Top Gear is now up for sale in the UK Auto Trader (via Blackpool Gazette)
Now the car, which has just 5,500 miles on the clock – is for sale on the Auto Trader website with a price ticket of £11,990.
In the advert for the car, Autotrader said: “The Polo is not a powerful car, but it was chosen because it boasts an average fuel economy of 74.3mpg and a tank range of 736 miles.”
One of the most economical, if not fast, car’s on the European market today, the VW Polo has the distinction of being what Jeremy Clarkson describes as being the satan of all that is automotive evil, an Oil Burner.
Here is the actual race in You Tube Goodness (after the jump)

i have done this fuel saving stuff and it is very hard to not just go for it good show
10 minutes, 1 minute is less than an F1 car!
Eighty mpg in the Volkswagon and all we can get in the U.S. is the damned prius at 43 mpg.All this green/eco bullshit is about power and control, not producing high mpg vehicals at a decent price.the socialists want us riding the bus.
Love it!
I keep hearing a lot about the German diesel car that can delivery 80 mpg, but I also keep hearing that it is in the works and not ready to go. As fars the prius comment, keep in mind that it is actually a Japanese car with a Japanese engine and power train. Most Japanese cars come with Japanese power trains, but all the lesser important stuff is US built. I have high hopes for Ford, which has changed its corporate culture is coming out with nice designs and greater reliability.
