After reading several reports it seems that the queue's (at least here in the US) at Apple stores on launch day weren't very big and definitely nowhere approaching the size of them when the 3G launched. In my opinion Apple have priced existing iPhone 3G users out of the market for the 3GS so demand is bound to be lower than that of the previous model.
